SAP Concur expands AI travel tools for Canadian firms

SAP Concur has expanded its artificial intelligence tools for travel and expense management, adding new functions for delegates, approvers, administrators and meeting planners.
The additions target organisations that manage travel bookings, approvals and expense reporting across multiple systems. New features include an AI-assisted delegates dashboard, an approval manager, administrative controls and an updated Meeting Planning Agent.
The expansion comes as SAP Concur cites growing demand from Canadian business travellers for AI within familiar workplace software. In its eighth annual global business travel survey, 38% of Canadian respondents said they wanted AI embedded in tools they already use, such as calendars and email. Another 26% cited Teams or Slack, and 26% pointed to proactive booking notifications.
The delegates dashboard is designed for staff who arrange travel and expenses on behalf of other employees. It brings approval requests, bookings and expense reports into a single workspace, reducing the need to move between different tools, email threads and traveller profiles.
SAP Concur said delegates can expect up to a 25% reduction in the hours spent resolving issues. The software uses AI to surface priorities, recommend next steps and keep workflows moving.
Approval tools
The AI-assisted approval manager focuses on expense reviews. It highlights high-risk submissions, provides AI reasoning and presents risk insights, spending trends and approval history in one place.
The approval manager is available now for early adopter customers. General availability is planned for the fourth quarter of 2026.
Administrative teams are also included in the update. The enhanced admin control function allows travel managers to compare programme performance against similar organisations, identify possible areas for change and receive recommended actions.
Administrators can upload policy documents and use AI to identify gaps between those documents and system settings. SAP Concur said this is intended to help companies maintain compliance and keep travel programmes aligned with internal rules.
Enhanced admin control is available now for early adopter customers, with a broader release planned for the first quarter of 2027.
Meetings focus
SAP Concur has also updated its Meeting Planning Agent, which works through SAP's AI assistant Joule. The feature is designed to help organisers compare destinations, assess meeting requirements and manage hotel room blocks without relying on separate systems.
The tool can flag major events in a chosen location and on selected dates before organisers make a final decision, helping them avoid higher prices or limited availability. It also brings Groupize hotel room block proposals into SAP Concur software.
The meeting planning function is due to become available in the fourth quarter of 2026. SAP Concur said it is intended to give companies greater visibility into meeting-related travel spending while reducing administrative work.
Canadian demand
Brian Veloso, Managing Director, SAP Concur Canada, linked the product expansion to how businesses are assessing AI in travel and finance. He said Canadian organisations are looking for practical uses of AI within existing workflows rather than as a separate layer of technology.
SAP also cited its position in the travel and expense software market. According to IDC data referenced by the company, SAP ranked first worldwide in travel and expense management software with a 48.1% market share in 2025.
SAP Concur's broader argument is that AI in travel and expense management depends not only on automation but also on access to transaction data, policy rules and connected business processes. It says that is the basis for extending support across planning, spending, approvals and compliance.
For employers in Canada, the emphasis is on reducing manual work while giving finance and travel teams a clearer view of costs and policy adherence. The latest tools are intended to support faster decisions across the travel process, from booking and delegate support to expense review and meeting organisation.
