HCLTech launches Pulse for mid-market AI transformation
Thu, 17th Sep 2026 (Today)
HCLTech has launched HCLTech Pulse, a new business unit targeting enterprises with annual revenue of USD $500 million to USD $5 billion.
The unit is designed for organisations looking to move beyond small-scale artificial intelligence projects to broader adoption across their operations. It targets businesses that have often relied on separate providers for strategy, platforms, implementation and operations.
HCLTech Pulse brings together AI strategy, data, cyber, platforms, engineering and business-process transformation under one structure. It will focus on transformation projects including cloud migration, application modernisation, enterprise platforms, cybersecurity, engineering services and managed services.
The launch comes as technology suppliers compete for a growing mid-market and upper-mid-market customer base investing in AI and broader modernisation programmes. HCLTech cited Everest Group research that values the global technology services opportunity in this segment at about USD $400 billion, with annual growth of 7% to 9%.
Peter Bendor-Samuel, Founder and Executive Chairman of Everest Group, highlighted the scale of that market in comments released alongside the launch.
"This segment represents an approximately $400 billion global technology-services opportunity and is growing at 7-9% annually," said Peter Bendor-Samuel, Founder and Executive Chairman of Everest Group. "As these organizations move from AI experimentation to scaled deployment, the market will reward providers that combine deep technology expertise with industry context and an integrated delivery model."
Market focus
HCLTech is positioning the new unit around companies large enough to pursue organisation-wide transformation but that may lack the internal teams or partner network to execute it at scale. The focus reflects a broader shift in demand as enterprises move from testing generative AI and other tools to embedding them in everyday processes.
The unit extends HCLTech's broader services portfolio with a delivery model built for this revenue band. HCLTech employs more than 223,000 people across 60 countries and reported consolidated revenue of USD $14.8 billion over the 12 months to June 2026.
C Vijayakumar outlined the company's view of how AI is changing corporate transformation programmes.
"AI is rewriting the economics of growth. The real advantage goes to enterprises bold enough to reimagine their processes from the ground up, not just automate what already exists, and to do it safely and responsibly," said C Vijayakumar, CEO and Managing Director of HCLTech. "HCLTech Pulse combines our AI, engineering, cyber, data and industry expertise to help enterprises rethink how work gets done and turn AI investment into measurable business value."
Scaling challenge
The move addresses a common problem in AI adoption: projects often begin as pilots or proof-of-concept exercises but do not progress to broad operational use. Barriers often include governance, data readiness, security, skills and the complexity of integrating new tools into existing systems.
This issue is especially relevant in fast-growing markets across Asia, where companies have shown strong interest in AI while facing pressure to demonstrate returns on technology spending. In markets such as Singapore, where AI adoption has become a strategic priority for many enterprises, the debate has shifted from whether to invest to how to do so safely and with effective oversight.
HCLTech Pulse will place particular emphasis on responsible AI, governance and technology modernisation. Clients in this segment need support not only with AI tools but also with the underlying cloud, application and data environment required to deploy them across the business.
Ashish Kumar Gupta described the new unit as a response to demand from clients at a particular stage of growth.
"HCLTech Pulse is our response to a clear, unmet need," said Ashish Kumar Gupta, Global Head of New Business Incubation Group at HCLTech. "HCLTech serves many clients at this stage of scale and understands that the greatest value comes from bringing the right focus, senior attention and platform investments to each client's priorities. HCLTech Pulse brings a sharp focus to simplifying transformation and accelerating time to value, so these organizations can pursue their ambitions with a single, accountable partner."
