BC celebrates tech innovation with 2025 TIA awards

Tue, 28th Oct 2025

BC Tech has announced the winners of this year's Technology Impact Awards in Vancouver, honouring companies and individuals who contribute to British Columbia's technology sector.

The annual awards event, now in its 32nd year, hosted more than 700 participants, including founders, executives, investors and partners from across British Columbia, who gathered to recognise achievements in the province's technology industry. Ten awards were given out, alongside the induction of three figures into the Innovators Hall of Fame, reflecting a year of notable transaction milestones in the sector.

"With over 1,000 members across the province, BC Tech has the privilege of working alongside some of the most ambitious and innovative companies in the country," said Jill Tipping, Chief Executive Officer and President of BC Tech. "Tonight's winners and finalists truly embody the spirit of this community. Their vision, creativity, and resilience are what make B.C. such a vibrant hub for technology and innovation."

This year, the Gamechanger - Deal of the Year award was presented to Clio. The award spotlights a transaction that demonstrates the size and strength of British Columbia's technology ecosystem. All five finalist deals represented a combined investment of CAD $3 billion, illustrating increasing maturity and competitiveness in the sector.

Tipping underlined the economic significance of these deals. "These deals are proof that B.C.'s tech sector has come into its own," Tipping said. "Tech is the fastest-growing part of B.C.'s economy -- growing three times faster than the rest of the economy for the last three years."

The ceremony also saw the announcement of a new Healthtech award category set to be released in 2026.

Among the biggest winners on the night was Clio, which received the Gamechanger – Deal of the Year award in recognition of a transaction that BC Tech said exemplifies the scale and strength of the province's innovation economy.
