Aryza has acquired Umbrella Tech, adding voice-based artificial intelligence to its collections and recoveries offering.
The deal brings Umbrella Tech's voice automation and speech analytics tools into Aryza Engage, Aryza's conversational AI and digital collections platform. The combined system is intended for collections operations, customer service and compliance processes in financial services.
Toronto-based Umbrella Tech focuses on voice-based agentic AI for financial services. Aryza provides credit and debt lifecycle management software for lending, collections, and recoveries.
The combined product is designed to support automated customer interactions in more than 100 languages and to operate around the clock, allowing human staff to focus on more complex cases.
Collections focus
The transaction centres on the collections and recoveries market, where lenders and service providers are under pressure to improve contact rates, maintain compliance standards and manage costs. In that environment, voice automation has drawn interest as firms look beyond text-based chat and digital self-service tools.
Aryza said customers using the technology have reported higher engagement, lower operating costs and better recovery performance. It added that the software can provide oversight of every interaction rather than relying on quality checks based on sample calls.
That is significant in regulated financial services, where firms must monitor how customers are contacted and how staff or automated systems handle sensitive conversations. Speech analytics and quality assurance tools are increasingly used to review interactions at scale.
Colin Brown, Chief Executive Officer of Aryza, described the acquisition as part of a broader push into AI-led automation for collections and recoveries.
"The addition of Umbrella Tech is pivotal in Aryza's journey to expand its AI capabilities. By integrating Aryza's conversational AI platform, Aryza Engage, with advanced voice-based agentic AI, we are creating a powerful market differentiator. This combination enables our customers to deploy intelligent, autonomous engagement at scale while advancing the next generation of Agentic Collections & Recoveries globally," said Brown.
Market demand
The deal reflects broader activity across financial technology, where software providers are adding generative AI, automated agents and analytics tools to products used in customer operations. Collections have become a particular focus because they combine large volumes of routine interactions with strict regulatory requirements.
For software providers, voice tools offer a way to expand beyond workflow management and digital messaging. They also provide a route into customer service and compliance functions that overlap with collections.
Umbrella Tech's technology includes autonomous digital agents, omnichannel engagement tools and an integrated quality assurance and speech analytics platform. Its products are aimed at regulated collections and recovery operations that handle high volumes of customer contact.
The acquisition also gives Aryza a stronger presence in North America through Umbrella Tech's Toronto base while extending the scope of its existing product portfolio. Aryza said the addition strengthens its position in the global collections and recoveries market.
Sam Ganab, Chief Executive Officer of Umbrella Tech, said the transaction would broaden the reach of his company's technology across Aryza's platform and customer base.
"Joining Aryza marks a significant milestone for Umbrella Tech, opening an exciting new phase of growth. With Aryza's vision and Umbrella Tech's AI technology, it establishes a robust foundation to expand capabilities and help organisations advance the way they manage customer engagements," said Ganab.
