Applause appoints Aatish Salvi as Chief Technology Officer

Wed, 15th Apr 2026

Applause has appointed Aatish Salvi as Chief Technology Officer, putting the former Hasbro and TripAdvisor executive in charge of the company's technology roadmap.

Salvi will lead Applause's global product and technology organisations and oversee the vision and execution of its technical strategy. His remit includes AI-driven testing as the company expands its software testing services for businesses building and deploying AI-based products.

The appointment comes as companies across sectors face growing pressure to test software in a wider range of conditions, particularly as generative and agentic AI are used more widely in customer-facing applications and internal systems. Applause's model combines automation, AI and a global testing community to assess digital products in real-world settings rather than relying solely on conventional quality assurance methods.

Salvi brings more than two decades of technology leadership experience. His previous roles include senior positions at Hasbro, Teikametric, Nanigans, LoopIt and TripAdvisor's Smarter Travel Media. He studied computer science at Brown University, where he earned a Sc.B. with honours.

Chris Malone, Applause's Chief Executive, linked the appointment to a broader shift in software development and testing.

"Leading brands come to us because we've always helped them test what's next - from early mobile and digital platforms to today's AI-driven applications," Malone said. "Generative and agentic AI are the latest shift - and one of the most complex. While these technologies are changing how software is built, they also introduce new risks that traditional testing approaches can't fully address. Our model validates how applications perform in real-world conditions with the speed and scale of AI, so teams can move faster with confidence and deliver high-quality experiences that retain customers and drive growth."

He added that strong technical leadership would be central as Applause expands its testing offering to meet changing market demands.

"With AI-driven software development accelerating, organizations need to stay ahead of an increasingly complex testing landscape," Malone said. "As we expand our capabilities and coverage, having the right technical leadership is critical. Aatish brings the experience and perspective to help us advance our strategy and deliver even greater value to our enterprise clients."

Broader push

Alongside the executive hire, Applause outlined how it is adapting its services to the demands of AI development. It offers responsible AI quality services designed to help businesses test and validate their own AI systems, including model evaluation, domain expert validation and red team testing.

Those services reflect a broader challenge for software companies and their corporate customers. As AI systems are integrated into apps, websites and business processes, testing has moved beyond checking whether a feature works as intended. Companies are also under pressure to assess whether outputs are accurate, reliable and safe in varied real-world conditions.

That has created an opening for specialist testing providers that combine automated checks with human review. Applause's pitch centres on using a large independent testing community to examine products across different devices, locations and user scenarios, particularly when businesses want outside validation before a wider release.

Salvi said he was joining at a time of major change in software development and product risk.

"I'm thrilled to be joining Applause at a time when software testing is more critical to our industry than ever before," Salvi said. "We're experiencing unprecedented technological transformation, and for our clients, the stakes are incredibly high. If product releases fail, customers and revenue are on the line. I'm excited to further advance our model - combining AI, automation and real-world human insight - and expand how we apply AI to help enterprises deliver applications that are not only high-performing, but safe, reliable and ready for real-world use."

Testing market

The hire underscores how software quality and testing are becoming more strategic for companies selling digital products. Businesses have long used automated testing tools and internal quality assurance teams, but the spread of AI-generated code and AI features has added new layers of complexity, particularly around output consistency, bias, safety and performance under changing user conditions.

For Applause, appointing a technology chief with experience in data-driven and AI-led systems suggests an effort to strengthen its position in that market. It also highlights how testing providers are reshaping their offerings as clients look for ways to scrutinise not only traditional software bugs but also the behaviour of AI systems in production-like environments.

Applause also noted recent industry recognition for its AI-related quality work, including finalist status in the 2026 AI Awards for "Best AI-Powered Quality Assurance."
