Wilson Connectivity wins Canada certification for DAS
Wilson Connectivity has secured ISED certification in Canada for its Zinwave 8000 distributed antenna system, allowing the product to be deployed immediately in the country.
Granted under RSS-131, the certification confirms compliance with Canadian regulatory requirements for the in-building wireless system. It covers cellular frequency bands from 617 MHz to 3900 MHz, clearing the way for use in enterprise sites, transport settings and large venues.
The approval also extends beyond a single product. Wilson Connectivity's full enterprise bi-directional amplifier portfolio is now certified for Canada, including the 1300/4300, 4330, 4330 Industrial, 1398, 710i and 140i models.
That gives the company a broader position in Canada's indoor mobile coverage market, where building owners, operators and system integrators are seeking systems that support both indoor mobile service and public safety communications. Its BDA range can also be used for public safety and emergency responder radio communication enhancement systems.
Product range
Zinwave 8000 is a fibre-based distributed antenna system designed to support several mobile operators on a single infrastructure. The software-defined system can adapt frequency support over time without requiring replacement of major hardware components.
The product is available in active and hybrid configurations. In an active setup, it connects directly to radio sources from multiple mobile operators. In hybrid deployments, it can be combined with Wilson Connectivity's approved BDA products, including the WilsonPro 4330, 1300 and 1398 models.
This approach is aimed at customers seeking a single indoor wireless platform across different building types. It also gives integrators a way to address commercial mobile coverage and first responder communications through equipment from the same supplier.
The newly certified products also meet the IEC 62368-1 safety standard, which replaced IEC 60950-1. Wilson Connectivity's BDA products are UL listed under SGS listed number 800678.
Canada market
The certification was completed in collaboration with Keating, Wilson Connectivity's authorised representative in Canada. That relationship is significant because local distribution and compliance support are often central to telecom infrastructure projects, especially in regulated commercial and public environments.
"ISED certification of the Zinwave 8000 removes the last barrier for Canadian enterprises looking to modernize their in-building wireless infrastructure," said Payam Maveddat, General Manager - Enterprise, Wilson Connectivity.
He added: "Our customers can now deploy a single, future-ready platform that supports multiple operators and evolves with their needs, no rip-and-replace required."
Indoor connectivity has become a growing issue for businesses as mobile traffic shifts indoors and newer building materials interfere with radio signals. Offices, hospitals, transport hubs, campuses and entertainment venues often need dedicated systems to improve coverage where outdoor networks do not reliably penetrate buildings.
For suppliers, regulatory approval is a necessary step before they can compete for projects in these environments. Certification can also influence which vendors system integrators choose, particularly when projects require support for both commercial cellular traffic and emergency communications.
Keating said demand in Canada has been growing for systems that can adapt as wireless requirements change.
"We've been hearing from Canadian enterprises for a while now that they need a DAS platform that can keep up with how fast wireless requirements are changing. The Zinwave 8000 gives them exactly that, and the fact that it's ISED-certified and ready to deploy today means we can move on projects that have been waiting for this," said Alex Nobile, VP, Sales and General Manager, Keating Technologies.
He added: "Paired with Wilson Connectivity's full BDA portfolio, we can now offer Canadian customers a complete solution for virtually any building or venue."
Wilson Connectivity said the Zinwave 8000 DAS and the rest of its enterprise BDA portfolio are now available in Canada. The company designs, assembles and supports products from manufacturing locations in the United States and the United Kingdom, and says it holds more than 265 issued or pending patents.
