Unanet unveils Champ AI copilot for architecture ERP

Thu, 12th Feb 2026

Unanet has launched a natural language AI copilot for its architecture and engineering ERP product, positioning it as a way for firms to query operational and financial data and trigger automated workflows from within the system.

The product, called Champ for ERP and "powered by Wyatt", is built into Unanet AE ERP. It targets users across finance, operations and project delivery who want answers about project and business performance without building reports or using spreadsheets.

Unanet has expanded its "Champ" line of AI copilots across its ERP and CRM products, framing the latest release as a response to data accessibility and analysis challenges in the AEC sector. It cited the 2025 AEC Inspire Report, which found almost half of surveyed firms lacked adequate tools for accessing, integrating and analysing data.

Customer use

Early customer feedback features in the release. AE Works, a building design and consulting firm, is named as a user of the new copilot.

"This isn't just AI for reporting," said Mark Bertsch, Chief Financial Officer at AE Works. "It's an intelligent agent that gathers the data, applies my criteria, drills deeper when something looks off, and brings back recommendations. That's a massive step forward in decision-making."

Champ for ERP accepts natural language questions and returns answers and analysis grounded in a firm's ERP data. It also supports "agentic workflows", in which the software can monitor performance, run checks and execute tasks inside the system.

Built for Unanet AE ERP, the tool covers common query areas such as cash, margin, utilisation, project health and risk. The release also highlights using structured and unstructured data in a single environment.

Data controls

Unanet is emphasising governance and access control. Champ for ERP uses a "governed reasoning layer" designed for ERP data, with outputs that are explainable and traceable to underlying sources within Unanet AE's system of record.

Responses follow role-based permissions, and the tool maintains auditability-often required in finance and project delivery environments where changes, approvals and attribution matter.

As many vendors introduce generative AI chat interfaces, Unanet is positioning its approach as embedded in operational workflows rather than a separate reporting layer. It is also pitching the product to architecture and engineering firms facing tightening margins and seeking more visibility into utilisation and project performance.

"AE firms have waited for AI to deliver on the hype and now it's finally here," said Steve Karp, Chief Innovation Officer at Unanet. "Our goal has always been to innovate AI solutions that are cleanly woven into the fabric of our tools so that customers can use them with confidence and gain true value. Customers are validating this approach and giving us real-life examples of how Champ AI is delivering business benefits, from faster proposal development to better project margins."

Wyatt partnership

Champ for ERP was developed with Wyatt, which Unanet has invested in, and tailored for Unanet AE ERP. The company described the partnership as part of a broader strategy to integrate AI copilots into core workflows across the project lifecycle.

Wyatt's founders are also linked to Clearview Software, which the release says is now part of Unanet AE ERP. Unanet did not disclose financial terms of the investment or commercial arrangements for the copilot.

"From the beginning, our vision with Wyatt was to bring expert-level intelligence directly into the flow of work, making every ERP user a power user," said Matt Pantana, co-founder of Wyatt and Clearview Software, now Unanet AE ERP. "We're delivering on that vision by combining rich ERP context with a deeply agentic experience, so the copilot doesn't just answer questions - it actively helps move the business forward, acting like an always-on ERP expert that saves teams time, reduces cost, and drives real impact."

Champ for ERP is available now for Unanet AE ERP customers.
