Signify unveils 2030 sustainability push & Interact range
Signify has launched its Brighter Lives, Better World 2030 programme and a new set of Interact-connected lighting products, setting new sustainability targets and expanding its lighting software offering.
The sustainability plan sets three headline goals for 2030: saving 60 TWh of energy for customers on a cumulative basis, cutting annualised portfolio CO2 emission intensity by 35%, and increasing the share of revenue from products and services beyond illumination to 41%, up from 31% in 2024.
Those broader revenue streams will include areas such as safety and security, health and well-being, solar lighting, and food production. Progress against the programme will be reported quarterly alongside financial results.
Circular push
As part of the programme, Signify is introducing a "use less, use longer, use again" framework built around two customer schemes, Signify Circle and Signify Switch.
Signify Circle is aimed at professional customers and covers products and services that meet the company's circularity criteria. Revenue under that banner will include Circle products, Light as a Service, remanufacturing, spare parts and upgrade kits.
Signify Switch is intended to help customers finance and install more efficient LED systems. The scheme is tied to demand for lower energy use and emissions in buildings and urban infrastructure.
"Brighter Lives, Better World 2030 is designed to deliver solutions that improve lives, save energy, and make better use of resources - which is exactly what our customers are asking for. It shows that impact and opportunity go hand in hand, as we create real value for society, while building a stronger, more resilient company," said As Tempelman, Chief Executive Officer of Signify.
Signify described the programme as the third phase of its long-running sustainability agenda and said it remains committed to reaching net zero by 2040.
Interact range
On the product side, Signify has added four offers to its Interact platform for connected lighting in buildings and outdoor settings. The systems are designed to use data from lighting networks to help operators monitor assets, manage energy use, and adjust lighting levels.
One of the new products, Interact for Intelligent Buildings, is aimed at building owners and facility managers. The suite offers centralised, real-time monitoring and automation across indoor professional spaces.
Interact for Intelligent Buildings has already been used in more than 40,000 projects worldwide. The latest version is intended to provide deeper oversight of lighting operations in offices and other managed buildings.
Another addition, Interact EasyConnect, focuses on outdoor lighting deployment through cellular and hybrid connectivity. It is designed to reduce the need for extensive wiring and other infrastructure, potentially speeding up installation for cities and operators.
Signify has also introduced a Central Management System for large outdoor lighting networks. The platform is designed to enable city operators to monitor, control, and manage lighting remotely through a single digital interface.
A fourth addition covers traffic- and weather-adaptive lighting systems. These adjust lighting levels based on traffic flow and weather conditions rather than on fixed schedules, aiming to maintain visibility while reducing unnecessary energy use during quieter periods.
Regional demand
The launch comes as pressure grows on companies and public authorities to lower electricity use, curb emissions, and update ageing infrastructure. Lighting is often one of the quicker areas for retrofit work because it can be upgraded without the complexity of deeper building renovation.
Jitender Khurana, Chief Executive Officer of Professional Business for Southeast Asia & Far East, outlined the regional backdrop to the announcement.
"Southeast Asia's energy demand is soaring, with nearly 80% fueled by fossil fuels. This creates a critical imbalance as emissions are set to rise by a third by 2050, while fossil fuel shortages loom. The urgency has never been greater. Buildings account for 40% of global energy consumption and emissions, making lighting upgrades one of the most immediate levers available - capable of reducing energy use by up to 80% while directly cutting Scope 1 and 2 emissions. Through 'Brighter Lives, Better World 2030, we enable partners to act now with intelligent systems that deliver real energy savings and data-driven solutions, paving the way for circular, future-ready growth," said Khurana.
Signify reported sales of EUR 6.7 billion in 2023 and employs about 32,000 people across more than 70 countries.
