SAS has won 12 solution awards in the Chartis RiskTech100 2027 rankings, where Chartis also placed it third overall among risk technology vendors.

The result extends SAS's Top 10 run to 22 years, making it the only vendor to remain in that group throughout the rankings' history.

The awards span banking and insurance risk categories, including asset and liability management, credit risk, enterprise stress testing, risk and finance integration, IFRS reporting and model risk management. Several categories were newly introduced for the 2027 rankings.

Chartis Research assesses vendors that sell their own risk management software products and solutions. Its methodology covers functionality, core technology, strategy, customer satisfaction, market presence and innovation.

Among the new categories, SAS ranked first in Credit Risk for the Banking Book - Retail, Cross-functional Behavioural Analytics, ALM Analytics, IFRS 17 - Accounting Systems and IFRS 17 - Data Management & Reporting.

It also retained leading positions in several existing categories. SAS won Balance Sheet Risk Management, Enterprise Stress Testing, IFRS 9 and Model Risk Management - Credit for the fourth consecutive year, and took Capital Optimisation for the second year in a row.

Range of Awards

SAS grouped the recognition into three broad themes: decision-making, financial performance and governance. In practice, that included awards for behavioural modelling in markets, retail lending risk, balance sheet oversight, capital planning and accounting data management for insurers.

The breadth of the list reflects how banks and insurers are trying to connect data, modelling and reporting across their organisations. Risk systems that once sat in separate functions are increasingly judged on how well they link lending, liquidity, capital and regulatory reporting.

Sid Dash, Chief Researcher at Chartis, said SAS had shown both staying power and breadth across the rankings.

"Not only does SAS lead in a dozen diverse RiskTech100 categories critical to banks and insurers, ranging from asset and liability management and credit risk to enterprise stress testing and model risk management, among others. SAS also is impressively consistent, being at or near the top of the RiskTech100 overall ranking for the last 22 years," Dash said.

"SAS' ongoing innovation, diversity of offerings and long-term commitment to the financial services industry sets it apart as a premier provider of risk management technologies," he added.

Banking and Insurance Focus

The banking-related awards covered areas where lenders face pressure to forecast defaults, estimate losses and manage exposures across consumer and market activities. The insurer-related wins centred more heavily on IFRS 17, the accounting standard governing how insurance contracts are measured, valued and reported.

For banks, recognition in balance sheet risk management and asset and liability management points to continued demand for systems that help institutions respond to interest rate volatility and liquidity mismatches. Stress testing and capital optimisation remain central for finance and risk teams seeking a clearer view of resilience under adverse scenarios.

For insurers, data quality and traceability have become key parts of compliance work under IFRS 17. The two IFRS 17 awards point not only to accounting calculations but also to the data handling and reporting structures needed to support them.

Stu Bradley, Senior Vice President of Risk, Fraud and Compliance Solutions at SAS, said the range of awards reflected changes in how financial institutions manage risk.

"The diversity of SAS' wins reflects how interconnected risk has become - and how critical it is for banks, insurers and other financial firms to manage it across functions," Bradley said.

"The real value of this recognition is what it represents: decades of sustained innovation helping organisations turn fragmented signals into an integrated view and coordinated action. As SAS marks 50 years, we remain as focused as ever on preparing our customers for what they'll face next," he said.

The Chartis RiskTech100 has run since 2005 and is widely followed in the market for risk and compliance technology. Eligibility is limited to suppliers that sell their own products.
