Nintex unveils Solution Studio to streamline business automation

Yesterday

Nintex has launched Solution Studio, a portal designed to allow IT and business teams to build custom business automation solutions tailored to their unique operational processes.

According to Nintex, Solution Studio aims to address the challenges organisations face when using a mix of off-the-shelf software products. The new portal enables businesses to design process automation applications configured to fit their internal systems, workflows, approvals, and data handling requirements.

The company stated that the portal is part of a broader initiative to help mid-market organisations streamline their technology stacks, with a particular focus on low-code and AI-powered custom development.

"Organisations continue to manage many business processes manually or with a mix of disconnected software solutions, which is hindering their ability to drive efficiency and productivity," said Maureen Fleming, Program VP, Worldwide Intelligent Process Automation Market Research and Advisory Service at IDC. "Custom solutions built on top of a process automation platform provide mid-market businesses and departments within enterprise organisations with a simple interface that allows them to easily solve complex business challenges without manual processes and multiple pieces of software."

Increasingly, businesses are seeking to consolidate their IT investments and replace separate off-the-shelf software with purpose-built applications to optimise resources and improve operational efficiency. Traditionally, the development of custom solutions has required significant investment in both time and resources. Nintex states that with the introduction of AI and low-code capabilities in Solution Studio, IT teams can create bespoke applications in a more cost-effective and timely manner.

Solution Studio provides several features designed to facilitate the development and management of business process automation. Among these is the ability to create configurable and reusable modules, such as automated approval flows or document generation components, which can then be deployed across teams and operations without the need for additional custom coding. The portal also integrates a unified development environment for designing and launching full-stack solutions, including workflow automation, e-signature, and document generation tools.

The platform allows organisations to enforce governance, maintain oversight, track solution usage, uphold standards, and manage access to solutions via a single dashboard.

Bill Vencil, Associate Director, Protiviti Software Services, commented on the potential impact of Solution Studio. "We work with clients on a daily basis to effectively leverage, optimise, and strategically implement purpose-built Nintex solutions. We see a lot of opportunities and business cases in the marketplace for Solution Studio since it accelerates implementation of solutions to complex processes."

Nintex also revealed the introduction of a new pre-built solution, Nintex Employee Onboarding, which automates key tasks and processes for hiring managers, HR, finance, and IT during the onboarding of new employees. The intention behind the pre-built solution is to address cross-departmental procedures that are often hampered by limited IT resources, high development costs, and prolonged implementation timelines.

Pre-built solutions are positioned as a way for organisations to deploy automation for critical business functions cost-effectively and efficiently. The company currently offers two such solutions. The new Employee Onboarding tool aims to decrease the time required to complete onboarding, reduce costs associated with onboarding delays, and alleviate administrative workloads for HR, finance, and IT teams. The second offered solution, Licensing and Permitting, is designed for the public sector and focuses on digitising and streamlining complex permitting processes to enhance services for citizens and businesses while reducing manual workloads for government staff.

Niranjan Vijayaragavan, Chief Product Officer at Nintex, highlighted the prevailing trends influencing businesses' technology strategies. "Efficiency is top of mind for organisations today, which has led many to consolidate their business application portfolio by building custom solutions leveraging AI and low-code platforms," he said. "Our partners and customers can now easily build purpose-built solutions or leverage pre-built solutions that quickly drive value by automating complex business processes."

Nintex's stated objective with Solution Studio and its range of pre-built solutions is to provide both mid-market and larger organisations with a platform to address their specific process automation requirements within a single unified environment.
