Ledger launches Nano Gen5 with touchscreen & expanded app

Mon, 27th Oct 2025

Ledger has announced the launch of Ledger Nano Gen5, the first touchscreen device in its Nano range, together with a set of updates rebranding its platform and expanding enterprise offerings.

The new Ledger Nano Gen5 features Bluetooth and NFC capabilities, introducing on-the-go signing and enhanced connectivity options for users. The device also utilises an E Ink touchscreen, designed to make advanced security features such as Clear Signing and Transaction Check more accessible. The Ledger Recovery Key-intended to help users access their assets in emergencies-will be included with every device.

In tandem with the product launch, Ledger has renamed its hardware wallets as Ledger Signers and rebranded the Ledger Live app as Ledger Wallet. These changes are intended to reflect a shift in focus beyond financial transactions to include protecting digital identities and expanding the concept of ownership in the digital era.

Design collaboration

Tony Fadell, a member of Ledger's board and known for his work on the iPod, collaborated with graphic designer Susan Kare to develop unique iconography for an exclusive range of Badges aimed at personalising the Ledger Nano devices. According to Ledger, both figures contributed significant experience from previous technology projects to the development of the new product.

Core specifications

The Ledger Nano Gen5 measures 79.40 mm by 53.35 mm, is 8.64 mm thick, and weighs 46g. The device comes with USB C connectivity, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC. Its security is based on the Ledger EAL 6+ certified secure element. The screen features a 2.76-inch monochrome E Ink display with a resolution of 400 by 300 pixels.

Pascal Gauthier, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Ledger, said:

"The Ledger Nano series is the most successful digital asset security device of all time, with millions sold and none ever hacked. The all new Ledger Nano is built for the challenges and opportunities of today, and ready for those coming in the future. It is the new signer for everyone, available for an accessible price, with the best security and user interface on the market. The next generation of Ledger begins today."

Expanded app capabilities

The newly named Ledger Wallet app introduces updates aimed at improving the user experience when buying, selling, earning, and swapping digital assets. The app now supports direct connection to popular decentralised applications such as 1inch. Integration with Noah allows users to top up their wallets with fiat currencies such as USD or EUR, then convert instantly to stablecoins like USDC, streamlining access to digital assets and DeFi services.

Ian Rogers, Chief Experience Officer at Ledger, commented on these developments:

"Ledger is for people who are serious about their digital wealth, and each day more and more people become serious about their digital wealth. Ledger's dedication to security and ownership hasn't wavered in eleven years but Ledger's products are evolving alongside crypto, faster than ever. Today the combination of Ledger Wallet on your smartphone or computer and your Ledger signer make it easy and safe to use the full range of services offered by decentralized finance. With Ledger you can buy, swap, earn, spend, connect and do more. We support 100% of the top 100 tokens and far beyond, without ever compromising on security OR ownership. By comparison, exchanges are walled gardens and using a software wallet alone is like begging to have your wealth stolen."

Enterprise solutions

Ledger has also introduced Ledger Multisig in its enterprise suite. This new offering is designed to allow organisations to require multiple authorised signers to approve transactions and smart contract actions. Ledger positions this solution as addressing security, governance, and operational requirements for institutions engaging with digital assets across treasury management and smart contract workflows.

Ledger Enterprise's updated platform includes Clear Signing, which enables all decisions to be verified on-device at the hardware level. The company describes this as providing a single, trusted point of truth for managing significant digital assets without introducing operational delays.

Security and testing

All of Ledger's new products, including the Nano Gen5, Ledger Wallet, and Enterprise Multisig, have been tested by Ledger's Donjon security team as well as external auditors. Ledger reports that over 20% of the world's crypto assets are secured by its technology.

The Ledger Nano Gen5 is available globally for 179 USD/EUR, with availability subject to local certification requirements in individual countries.
