Kyndryl Canada to build AI-powered data platform for HSO
IT infrastructure services provider Kyndryl has been selected by the Health Standards Organisation (HSO) to develop a new enterprise data platform designed to unify and modernise the HSO's data management and analytics.
Built on Microsoft Fabric and hosted on Azure, the platform provides secure, scalable cloud infrastructure. The environment is set to enable more detailed analytics and reporting, allowing distributed teams to collaborate efficiently and access critical insights from anywhere in the world.
Data unification
HSO, a not-for-profit organisation based in Ottawa, focuses on health care quality and patient safety, and sets standards for health and social services across more than 100 areas. Its standards are currently adopted by 14,000 care sites worldwide, including hospitals and care homes. The new platform is expected to give HSO integrated access to its data resources, with the aim of better supporting evidence-based practice and expanding its international reach.
The project will automate and enhance HSO's data processes, enabling faster and more reliable insights. HSO aims to improve its forecasting and analytical capacity while reducing manual workload. The platform is also intended to provide improved visibility for management and operational teams, enabling more informed decision-making. By focusing on advanced analytics and data-driven intelligence, HSO expects to refine its approach to supporting improvements in care quality worldwide.
AI and governance
The initiative will also introduce a comprehensive data governance framework to strengthen data quality and ensure compliance.
"Kyndryl enables HSO to harness its vast data resources to advance health care quality and patient safety around the world," Kyndryl said in a release.
Proof-of-concept projects are being planned to test the use of artificial intelligence and business intelligence tools within HSO's operations. Change management will be addressed through stakeholder communication and workforce upskilling to support the adoption and integration of the new technologies.
"This partnership marks a significant milestone in our digital transformation. With Kyndryl's expertise and Microsoft's powerful platform, we're building a foundation that will amplify HSO's reach and effectiveness, increase the adoption of best practices and raise the standard of care for millions of people worldwide," said Janice Buchanan, Managing Director Global Digital Services, HSO.
Kyndryl's consulting and design teams worked with HSO to identify core challenges and co-develop tailored solutions. This included input from the Kyndryl Vital unit and data and AI specialists, who helped shape both the technological approach and the broader change management strategy. The process placed emphasis on aligning technical capabilities with HSO's organisational goals.
"We are proud to partner with HSO on their journey to becoming an AI-powered organization. By helping HSO unlock the full potential of their data and harness the transformative power of AI, we are enabling them to lead with data-driven intelligence to accelerate their important mission to support a healthier world," said Farhaz Thobani, President, Kyndryl Canada.
