Ken Washington named chairman at i-GENTIC AI to drive governance

Fri, 14th Nov 2025

Ken Washington, a former technology executive known for his leadership roles at Amazon, Ford, and Medtronic, has been appointed as Chairman of the Board at i-GENTIC AI, a company focused on AI-driven governance solutions for enterprise compliance.

Leadership experience

Washington brings nearly four decades of experience at the intersection of automation and responsibility. He most recently served as Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Medtronic, having previously overseen robotics at Amazon and autonomous vehicle initiatives at Ford.

"What i-GENTIC is building focuses on control, helping organizations ensure AI systems act within defined ethical and regulatory boundaries. That's where long-term trust and value will come from. Enterprises that build governance into their core systems will turn compliance into a business accelerator," said Washington, Chairman, i-GENTIC AI

Washington said his transition to i-GENTIC reflects the shift in artificial intelligence focus from generative capabilities to regulatory governance and control.

Technology approach

i-GENTIC AI's core product, GENIE, aims to automate the translation of complex regulatory frameworks into machine-executable logic. The system ingests documents such as regulations and standard operating procedures, then deconstructs them into smaller, atomic rules-referred to as "micro-policies"-that can be understood and enforced by machines.

Using natural language processing and semantic parsing, GENIE compiles regulatory obligations and exceptions into enforceable structures that do not require additional coding from human operators. This allows organisations to embed compliant processes directly within their operations and maintain up-to-date alignment with evolving laws and standards.

The solution is currently being piloted across financial, healthcare, and government sectors in the UAE and North America, according to the company.

Governance benefits

The company reports that early customers have observed significant improvements in compliance and operational efficiency. Institutions using the technology have seen up to 75 percent reductions in violations and 80 percent less manual work to achieve compliance. The company claims a detection accuracy exceeding 90 percent. In a recent analysis across a multi-state hospital network, GENIE was found to improve redaction accuracy, raising it to 99.8 percent as compared to notable errors prior to deployment.

Washington noted that i-GENTIC's approach addresses the needs of organisations operating in highly regulated environments. "Simply put, the use of i-GENTIC AI to automate compliance will change the game. I was immediately impressed by Zahra's vision and her grasp of what needs to be done to realize that vision. I'm excited to help by applying what I've learned to advise and help guide this team to success. Yes, it's still early days but they're off to a great start. I'm excited to see how this evolves and I'm excited for the customers who adopt this game changing technology," said Washington.

Executive perspective

Zahra Timsah, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, highlighted Washington's career as aligning closely with i-GENTIC's mission.

"Ken has spent his career at the intersection of automation and responsibility, from robotics to self-driving cars," said Zahra Timsah, co-founder and CEO of i-GENTIC AI.

Timsah credited the new appointment as a signal of the increasing importance of agentic governance in the AI sector. "His decision to join us signals how critical agentic governance will be in shaping the next era of AI," said Timsah.

Timsah said i-GENTIC is building a platform that aims to make compliance autonomous, translating regulations into self-enforcing actions across areas such as data, privacy and cybersecurity.

"With Ken's leadership, we're scaling that vision into the global standard for responsible innovation," said Timsah.

She added that founders face moments of doubt about their ambitions, stating, "And you build it anyway. Because deep down, you know the world doesn't need another tool. It needs a transformation."

"That's how i-GENTIC began, with a belief that governance could be autonomous, intelligent, and trusted. That compliance could move as fast as innovation itself. Today, that belief just got even stronger," said Timsah.
