Katalon launches AI testing platform for software quality
Katalon has launched its True Platform for software quality testing and governance, aimed at organisations using AI-generated code in software development.
The platform combines AI agents with audit trails, traceability, and human approval controls across the testing process. It is designed to unify automation, manual testing, execution, analytics, test management, and production monitoring in a single system.
The launch comes as software teams face a widening gap between the speed at which generative AI can produce code and the speed at which quality assurance teams can validate it. This has increased the risk of defects reaching production and exposed weaknesses in older testing approaches built on separate tools and fragile scripts.
Testing bottleneck
The platform includes an AI Assistant that uses natural language to turn requests into end-to-end workflows. Its AI agents can analyse requirements, create and maintain test cases, execute tests, detect bugs, and present insights to users.
According to Katalon, each AI-driven action is recorded and can be reviewed by human teams before release decisions are made. The governance model is intended to keep engineers in control while allowing more testing work to be automated.
Vu Lam, Founder & CEO of Katalon, outlined the company's position on oversight in AI-led development. "AI is transforming how software gets built, but it can't be accountable for what gets shipped," Lam said. "Katalon True Platform is where speed meets trust. Our AI agents handle the heavy lifting - generating tests, adapting to change, surfacing risk - but every decision is traceable, every action is governed, and human teams stay in control of release quality. That's what separates intelligent quality engineering from AI Testing hype."
Katalon also said the system uses shared data from development, testing, and production environments to give its agents more context when making testing decisions. It said this should help reduce false positives and provide a single view of software quality for development, QA, and product teams.
Partner views
Katalon included comments from customers and partners already using or assessing the platform in enterprise settings.
"The use of AI in the Katalon True Platform is very interesting to explore further because it makes the work of a manual QA easier, turning repetitive tasks into more efficient ones and can reduce the work time of a QA from a manual QA to a QA Automation Engineer," said Sylvia Astrida Gozali, Head of QA, PT. Indocyber Global Teknologi.
Another partner pointed to the shift from fragmented toolsets to integrated testing environments. "At Quality Kiosk, we have spent years building one of the most respected quality engineering practices in the industry. Partnering with Katalon and adopting True Platform has sharpened that edge considerably. One platform, purpose-built AI agents, and a unified view of quality across the entire lifecycle. It is exactly what enterprise QA teams need to thrive in an AI-driven world," said Shiladitya Roy Chaudhury, Senior Vice President & Head - Consulting and Advisory Services, QualityKiosk.
Cognizant also highlighted governance and visibility as key concerns among larger companies deploying AI in software delivery. "Katalon True Platform addresses a critical gap we see across enterprise clients," said Rajib Pachal, Portfolio Delivery Lead, Cognizant QE&A Practise. "Organisations are struggling with fragmented tooling, limited visibility, and the growing complexity of AI-driven development. True Platform brings those pieces together into a governed, intelligent system that accelerates delivery while strengthening accountability and consistency at scale."
"With Katalon True Platform, we can now bring a single, unified AI-powered environment to every engagement, replacing the fragmented tool stacks that used to slow teams down. The platform's AI agents take on the heavy lifting across the full testing lifecycle. Our clients ship faster, with greater confidence, and our consultants spend their time where they add the most value: solving real quality challenges, not managing tooling complexity," said Rui Félix, COO & Head of Innovation, OSQuay.
Broader shift
The launch reflects a wider change in software development, where quality assurance teams are increasingly being asked to act as a control point for code written or assisted by AI tools. Katalon argues that testing is becoming less of a downstream task and more of a formal check on what AI systems produce before software is released.
Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Atlanta, Katalon said its platform integrates with DevOps toolchains and supports changing software architectures while maintaining links to wider software ecosystems. It added that real user monitoring data can also feed back into testing, connecting test activity with software behaviour in live environments.
