Exclusive: Katalyze AI's document digitizing software accelerating pharma processing
Katalyze AI's CEO, Reza Farahani, says their new product will organise documents as if a PhD in Biochemistry is controlling the program. Digityze AI takes documents that have previously needed to be manually sorted by interns into an expert learning model that can interpret and extract information into one digital database.
While reducing manual effort by 85 to 95 per cent, the software has a 99 per cent accuracy rate and can validate a Certificate of Analysis (CoA) in under 5 minutes.
Digityze AI is capable of analysing lab reports, CoAs, batch records, and Standard Operating Procedures. It can also be trained to digitize documents specific to an organisation's business offerings.
The LLM is trained on open-source pharmaceutical manufacturing data paired with databases of partner companies that use the software.
Farahani, a former manufacturing consultant, discovered that North America has a massive drug shortfall. However, the remedies are available; it's just a matter of taking the time to manufacture drugs in response to demand.
How can we solve this problem to make these life saving drugs faster, cheaper, and give it to the hands of people - that was the idea behind Katalyze AI
Since launching in 2022, Katalyze has also introduced Raw Materials AI, an integrated system for raw materials data that drives higher manufacturing performance.
Now, with Digityze AI, pharmaceutical companies can turn unstructured documents into compliant data with real-time analytics. This way, manufacturers can save time on menial sorting tasks and focus on production.
"In the sector of pharmaceutical manufacturing, this is a first specialized solution for this specific sector...There's a race to get this specialized solution out there," says Farahani. "We know how to make the drug that cured tuberculosis, but it is still killing more humans every year...The issue is not knowing what the drug is a lot of the time. It's about manufacturing them and getting them out in the right time."
Over the last few months, the software has digitized over 200,000 documents, on track to complete five million documents by the end of this year.
According to Farahani, many industry players are still operating under the mindset of old-fashioned optical recognition.
"[We tell them] give us your document, and tomorrow we will have the whole thing ready up to digitize all of your documents," he says. "So the speed is very staggering. That would have taken months to custom develop, we are doing it in a day for them."
Digityze AI is available on Snowflake Marketplace as a Native App on the platform, allowing for secure and simplified integration into pre-existing databases. It connects enterprises to over 750 providers, offering more than 3,000 live and ready-to-use data, apps, and agentic products.
