Cycode has expanded its operations in Canada, saying its customer base in the country grew 500% over the past 18 months.

The expansion includes dedicated pre-sales, post-sales and customer success teams for the Canadian market. The investment is intended to support businesses adopting AI in software development while managing the security risks that come with it.

Canadian customers include Jane Software, Clio, Tenstorrent, Benevity, BDO Canada and theScore. Cycode said the growth reflects rising demand across the technology and enterprise sectors.

The company is also introducing a new brand identity as it broadens its focus from software supply chain security to what it calls agentic development security. The shift comes as AI tools move beyond assisting developers to play a larger role in writing, testing and deploying software.

Cycode has been adding products aimed at securing software development from prompts to production. These include governance tools for the agentic development lifecycle, code scanning that links vulnerabilities into attack paths, AI-based investigation and remediation tools, workstation protection against malicious software packages, and a server that brings security intelligence into AI development tools.

Seth Robbins, President and Chief Revenue Officer at Cycode, said Canadian companies are balancing AI's commercial promise with the security issues it creates.

"Canada is a natural extension of the leadership presence we've built with financial services organizations in the US, and we're committed to building long-term relationships with organizations here. The enterprise leaders I speak with see AI as both a tremendous opportunity and a significant security challenge. As AI changes software development, organizations need to rethink how they secure their applications and data. Our focus is on helping Canadian enterprises move forward with confidence, backed by the technology and expertise to protect where AI risk is born: in the code," Robbins said.

AI shift

The expansion comes as software development changes with the wider use of AI coding assistants and autonomous agents. Security vendors have been adapting their tools to address risks that emerge when AI systems generate code, handle testing and take part directly in deployment workflows.

Cycode said its platform is designed to give customers visibility and governance across that process, including monitoring risks introduced by AI assistants and identifying vulnerabilities before they are exploited.

The company pointed to recent research by its security team into flaws in NASA JPL spacecraft ground-system software and Anthropic's MCP Python SDK. It said the findings showed how weaknesses in development tools and software environments can create routes for unauthorised commands or account takeovers.

Market focus

Canada has become an increasingly competitive market for cybersecurity and AI suppliers as businesses adopt AI tools across development and operations. For vendors such as Cycode, the opportunity lies in helping companies manage governance and security concerns without slowing software delivery.

Cycode also said it was named a Leader in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Software Supply Chain Security, underscoring its standing in that segment of the application security market.
