Canadians embrace spring cleaning & home upgrades for 2025

Today

LG Electronics Canada has released its Spring 2025 Trends Report, powered by Google Trends, providing an update on how Canadians are preparing their homes for the season.

The report uses Google Trends data from February to March 2025. It highlights a notable increase in searches for home improvement, cleaning, entertaining, and fashion as Canadians look to refresh their living spaces.

Search interest in 'spring cleaning tips' grew by 5,000% in the past month, indicating a strong nationwide focus on cleaning and organisation. Additional popular searches during March included 'kitchen cleaning' and 'cleaning the fridge.'

The report notes a rise in searches for 'kitchen design', suggesting Canadians are considering both aesthetic and functional upgrades to their kitchens. The LG Counter-Depth MAX Refrigerator with Zero Clearance is featured as a space-saving solution that aims to blend with cabinetry for a streamlined appearance. According to the company, its Zero Clearance Hinge System allows doors to sit nearly flush even when next to a wall.

Challenges in maintaining appliance performance are also evident, as searches for 'dishwasher is not cleaning dishes' spiked by 5,000%. LG references its Smart Top Control Dishwasher, which features QuadWash Pro, TrueSteam, and Dynamic Heat Dry technologies designed to clean and dry dishes more effectively, along with a one-hour wash and dry cycle option.

The report identifies increasing attention on bedrooms and laundry rooms, noting that 'can you put pillows in the washing machine' and 'what is tub clean in a washing machine' both surged by over 2,500%. LG highlights its WashTower with HeatPump Dryer for managing large bedding and everyday laundry, stating that its AI-powered technology adapts to different fabric textures and load sizes.

LG ThinQ technology can send reminders for periodic maintenance, and the company points to its Dual Inverter HeatPump technology as contributing to energy efficiency, stating that the ENERGY STAR certified dryer uses up to 65% less energy compared to conventional models.

Interest in entertaining has also grown, with searches for 'spring cocktail' spiking on 2 March 2025, alongside increases for specific beverages like 'daiquiris' and 'strawberry cocktails.' LG suggests its Craft Ice slow-melting round ice can be used to elevate homemade drinks.

Baking is another area where Canadians have shown heightened interest. Searches for 'spring baking recipes' and 'spring baking ideas' rose by 5,000%, with the LG Smart Induction Range, featuring ProBake Convection technology, positioned as a tool for evenly baked goods. The Air Fry function provides an additional option for cooking with less oil.

Wardrobe updates are also on the agenda, with a 5,000% leap in searches for 'spring/summer 2025 fashion trends.' LG highlights the importance of refreshing clothing before wearing, suggesting that the LG WashCombo All-in-One Washer/Dryer provides a way to wash and dry clothing within a single machine, using energy-efficient Inverter HeatPump technology designed to save up to 60% of energy per load.

The company attributes these observations to Canadians seeking new ways to freshen up their living spaces, improve hosting, and prepare for the warmer months, as shown by notable shifts in online search behaviours related to home improvement, cleaning, and lifestyle choices.
