Brivo adds Schlage XE360 to Security Suite for doors

Brivo has added the Schlage XE360 Series with RealSync lock to its Brivo Security Suite, extending cloud-based access control to interior and secondary doors.

The integration targets doors often left outside electronic access systems because of installation costs and infrastructure requirements. According to Brivo, secondary and interior openings account for about 75% of doors in a typical facility.

The lock connects over existing building Wi-Fi networks and does not require separate control panels, proprietary gateways or new cabling. Remote commands and access updates can be carried out in less than 10 seconds, Brivo said.

Brivo said the product is designed to reduce the cost of securing more doors across commercial buildings, with per-door costs up to 70% lower than traditional hardwired systems.

Interior access

The launch focuses on an area where building owners and managers have often prioritised perimeter doors while leaving internal areas under less direct electronic control. Brivo cited IT cupboards, administrative offices and utility spaces as examples.

The Schlage XE360 Series with RealSync can also be used to upgrade existing doors from offline to online access control by replacing the internal module rather than the full lockset. Brivo said the lock remains continuously connected to the network and runs for a year on standard AA batteries.

Within the Brivo Security Suite, the locks sit alongside other parts of the system, including video intelligence and visitor management. The goal is to give users a single interface for perimeter doors, internal wireless locks and other physical security functions.

Integrator focus

Brivo is also positioning the integration as a tool for security installers serving commercial and institutional customers. It said the system allows integrators to move clients beyond protecting only main entrances and bring more internal spaces under access control.

One such partner is Action Security Group in Alberta, which serves organisations across Western Canada through its Accesio division. Brivo said the company believes the integration changes how projects can be deployed.
