Appfire acquires Flow from Pluralsight to enhance portfolio

Yesterday

Appfire has announced the acquisition of Flow, a leading enterprise software platform for Software Engineering Intelligence (SEI), from Pluralsight.

The acquisition of Flow by Appfire allows the company to enhance its support for engineering teams by integrating a Software Engineering Intelligence platform into its portfolio. This integration will complement Appfire's existing products, such as 7pace Timetracker and BigPicture PPM, providing engineering teams with greater insights and productivity capabilities.

Under economic pressures to maximise return on investment in research and development, engineering leaders often face challenges in consolidating data from various platforms such as Jira, GitHub, GitLab, and Azure DevOps. Flow addresses this issue by unifying and standardising data into productivity metrics that are industry-benchmarked, giving leaders a clear, actionable view of their engineering operations.

Randall Ward, Founder and CEO Emeritus of Appfire, commented on the acquisition by stating, "This acquisition marks an exciting new phase for Appfire, since Flow fits seamlessly into our broader mission to equip and connect every team so they can plan and deliver their best work. By introducing Flow to our portfolio and broadening the scope of our technology category, we're helping enterprises better understand developer productivity, R&D investments and more through leveraging the platforms and ecosystems we serve. This in turn will enable them to drive efficiency, gain actionable insights, and deliver exceptional results."

The acquisition is expected to enable Appfire to better support Chief Technology Officers, Chief Product Officers, and engineering leaders. Flow will integrate with daily-use tools such as Jira, GitHub, Azure DevOps, and GitLab, thereby increasing the offerings available to Appfire's customers and partners.

Colin Puckett, Senior Vice President of Global Channel and Field Operations at Appfire, noted the significance of the acquisition. "This moment marks a big milestone for both Appfire and our key stakeholders," he said.

"Flow is a high-value enterprise product, which carries specific expectations from enterprise customers about how they buy. While we remain channel-obsessed, we recognise the impact of a dynamic and complementary approach to our market strategy. As we expand our portfolio and introduce products like Flow, Appfire's go-to-market strategy will diversify in a way that benefits everyone, from employees and shareholders to partners and customers. We're excited about the opportunity to build a Flow-specific channel program while ensuring our partners continue to thrive alongside Appfire," Puckett said.

From Flow's perspective, the acquisition offers potential for expanded efficiencies across engineering ecosystems. "We are so excited to integrate Flow into Appfire's innovative product portfolio," stated David Farah, GM and Head of Product at Flow. "Flow has been a leader in the SEI space for years, and this acquisition presents a valuable opportunity to help engineering teams across ecosystems work more efficiently by making data driven decisions that directly improve business outcomes. By augmenting existing Appfire products, we can elevate the optimisation of development processes beyond engineering and unlock delivery efficiency across entire organisations."

Flow remains an independent SaaS product, enhancing the effectiveness of existing applications and complementing Appfire's offerings. This integration is anticipated to open up new opportunities for Appfire within the SEI category while strengthening its position across current and new ecosystems.
