Nasuni appoints Nick Burling as Chief Product Officer & unveils AI tools

Wed, 15th Oct 2025

Nasuni has promoted Nick Burling to Chief Product Officer and launched new products aimed at enhancing AI-ready data management for enterprise clients.

Burling, who joined Nasuni in 2021, moves into the Chief Product Officer role after serving as Senior Vice President of Product. His background includes product management and strategy roles at several technology firms, including IBM and Microsoft.

In his new position, Burling will help define Nasuni's broader product strategy as it seeks to provide what the company describes as a complete unstructured data management platform. His promotion comes at a time when the company is taking steps to expand its product portfolio beyond traditional file storage.

Leadership comments

"Under Nick's leadership, Nasuni has transformed from a single product into an end-to-end platform with a strategic vision for making unstructured data storage intelligent and actionable in the age of AI. His strategic thinking, customer focus, and unmatched energy embody our commitment to innovation and customer success. I'm thrilled to see him step into the Chief Product Officer role as we enter this exciting next phase of growth," said Sam King, CEO of Nasuni.

Responding to his promotion and the new launches, Nick Burling said:

"I'm thrilled to join our executive team and investors in building the next growth chapter for Nasuni. Enterprises are looking for more than storage; they need a foundation that can actively power AI and data-driven insights. NDS and the MCP solutions are core to that vision, opening new ways to activate data securely and at scale and advancing a product roadmap designed to make unstructured data not just protected, but truly intelligent."

Product launches

Alongside the leadership announcement, Nasuni introduced Nasuni Data Service (NDS) and two Model Context Protocol (MCP) solutions designed to help organisations make their data more accessible and actionable with AI technologies. These products are intended to build on the company's existing File IQ Premium and Ops IQ solutions.

Nasuni Data Service offers high-performance, cloud-native API access to data managed by the Nasuni platform. This allows enterprises to use their data directly for AI modelling, analytics, and integration with external data intelligence tools, reducing the need for file duplication or migrations. The company states that NDS also maintains security through strict permission controls and leverages Nasuni's versioned, immutable global file system for data resilience.

The new MCP solutions - Desktop MCP Solution and Nasuni Management MCP Solution - provide natural language interfaces to interact with file data as well as management tools. Users or administrators can engage in safe, conversational interactions with files or receive real-time administrative insights, helping enterprises to use unstructured data more effectively. These solutions are freely available through the Nasuni Labs page on GitHub for interested users and IT administrators.

Customer benefits and applications

Early adopters of NDS and MCP have reported increased productivity and reduced costs through improved data accessibility. Customer organisations from sectors such as legal and manufacturing are using these solutions to support activities ranging from contract analysis to quality control.

The rollout of NDS and MCP is described as a step towards transforming Nasuni's global file system into a cloud-first platform for making unstructured enterprise data searchable, actionable, and secure.

Ongoing strategy

Burling will have responsibility for driving ongoing product innovation at Nasuni and advancing its approach to unstructured data management. The company plans to focus on solutions that enable secure and scalable data activation for AI applications across industries.
