Adobe names Lucius DiPhillips CIO to drive AI focus

Wed, 21st Jan 2026

Adobe has appointed Lucius DiPhillips as Chief Information Officer. He will lead the company's global Technology Services team.

The company said DiPhillips will take responsibility for internal technology operations and the technology foundation that underpins Adobe's products and services. Adobe also linked the appointment to its wider push to roll out more AI-related work across the business.

Daniel Durn, who holds the roles of Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of Finance, Technology, Security, and Operations, positioned the move as part of a broader focus on technology and AI inside the company.

"Technology is at the heart of everything we do at Adobe," said Daniel Durn, Adobe's Chief Financial Officer and executive vice president of Finance, Technology, Security, and Operations. "Lucius brings deep expertise in driving digital transformation and a people-first approach to leadership. His vision will be instrumental as we continue to scale and innovate in the era of AI."

Role and remit

Adobe described DiPhillips' brief as leading Technology Services on a global basis. The company said the team will advance its digital transformation programme. It also said the organisation will work on strengthening Adobe's technology foundation.

Companies across the software sector have been expanding internal IT and security programmes alongside AI initiatives. Many have also aimed to standardise data access and improve governance as they embed AI tools into core processes. Adobe did not provide detail on specific programmes or timescales linked to the new CIO's arrival.

DiPhillips arrives with more than 25 years of experience in technology leadership roles, according to Adobe. The company said his work has focused on large-scale digital transformation across global organisations.

Previous posts

DiPhillips most recently served as CIO at Airbnb. Adobe said he led a global technology organisation at the travel platform. The company said that work included modernising core business platforms.

Adobe said DiPhillips also worked on AI-related initiatives in that role. It attributed to him improvements in productivity and cost efficiency. It did not quantify those gains.

Before Airbnb, DiPhillips held senior roles at eBay, PayPal, Bank of America, and GE, Adobe said. It said he worked with product, finance, and business leadership teams over the course of his career.

Adobe also said DiPhillips delivered multi-million-dollar infrastructure savings and workforce efficiency gains. The company said he worked across complex and highly regulated environments. It did not identify which parts of his career those results related to, or the periods in which they were recorded.

AI emphasis

Adobe linked the appointment to its AI-related work and to governance themes. The company framed these as part of its positioning on trust and technology change at scale.

DiPhillips also pointed to AI and trust in his own statement on joining the company.

"Adobe's commitment to AI-powered innovation and trust creates powerful opportunities to apply technology in meaningful, scalable ways," said DiPhillips. "I look forward to working closely with teams across the company to build upon our digital foundation and support Adobe's next phase of growth."

Adobe did not say whether DiPhillips will change the structure of Technology Services or make near-term leadership appointments. The company also did not state whether the CIO role had been vacant or previously held by another executive.

Operations focus

Adobe described DiPhillips as a leader who builds inclusive teams and emphasises collaboration and trust. The company also said he has a view on operational excellence and modern enterprise architecture.

The appointment places DiPhillips within the executive group that oversees finance, technology, security, and operations under Durn's remit. Adobe did not specify reporting lines for the Technology Services organisation beyond DiPhillips' position as CIO.

Adobe said DiPhillips will work with teams across the business as the company continues internal transformation and expands its AI-related work.
